GN Solids Control is proud to announce a major milestone in the global mining industry: five GNLW764-VFD variable-frequency decanter centrifuges have been successfully commissioned and are now operating reliably at a large-scale overseas mine tailings slurry separation project.

This achievement highlights GN’s capability to deliver advanced solid-liquid separation solutions under the most demanding conditions, overcoming challenges such as high-altitude operation, high-volume processing, and severe abrasive wear.

Overcoming Extreme Conditions

The project was awarded by a major mining company following a highly competitive international tender. With stringent qualification requirements and demanding technical standards, the project presented significant challenges from the start.

Located at an altitude of 4,500 meters above sea level, the mine operates under extreme environmental conditions. Such high altitudes place exceptional demands on equipment reliability, structural integrity, and environmental adaptability.

In addition, the large volumes of slurry, the high hardness of the minerals, and severe abrasive wear created further operational hurdles, requiring equipment that could ensure continuous and efficient operation without frequent downtime.

To meet these demanding requirements, GN developed a customized solution tailored to the site's actual operating conditions, slurry characteristics, and environmental challenges.

The core of the solution is the GNLW764-VFD decanter centrifuge, which features:

A large, 30-inch-diameter bowl for high-volume tailings processing.

An advanced variable-frequency drive (VFD) system enabling precise operating adjustments to improve separation efficiency and adapt to fluctuating feed conditions.

Wear-resistant design enhancements and optimized material selection to withstand the highly abrasive mineral slurry during continuous operation.
