Modular drilling cuttings management unit for CNPC jobsite
GN Solids Control have two model proposal for drilling waste management system. One model is compact and concentrated drilling waste management system: all equipment installed on one 12 meter skid; the other model is modular drilling cuttings management unit, which is separated in different small units, flexible for jobsite layout and separate transportation.
Recently, we have one project for CNPC domestic jobsite. They buy one set Modular drilling cuttings management unit. After our engineer help on the installation and test, the equipment is working well at CNPC jobsite. It is important to mention that vertical cuttings dryer performance and decanter centrifuge performance is two key points to beat the other competitors and win the order.
Modular drilling cuttings management unit including below parts
Part 1) vertical cuttings dryer: this is used to treat the oil based mud / synthetic based mud drilling cuttings discharged from solids control system shale shakers & desanders & desilters. After treated by vertical cuttings dryer, the fine solids with liquids go to next stage treatment by centrifuge. The coarse solids discharged from cuttings dryer is dry enough, generally OOC below 3-5%. Internationally, the solids will go to Thermal desorption unit or incinerator for final treatment into ashes or produce into bricks.
Part 2) High G dryer: this is used to treat the water based mud drilling cuttings discharged from solids control system shale shakers & desanders & desilters. After treated by High G dryer, the fine solids with liquids go to next stage treatment by centrifuge. The coarse solids discharged from high G dryer, generally OOC around 10%.
Remark: GN vertical cuttings dryer can also be used for WBM drilling cuttings treatment. Compared with High G dryer, the treatment results is much better, however, the power consumption is much bigger. The vertical cuttings dryer is 55kw for big size cuttings dryer (GNCD930 dryer) and 37kw for mini vertical cuttings dryer (GNCD730 dryer); only 3.88kw for High G dryer (GNZS594HGE-LD). Operation cost of vertical cuttings dryer and high G dryer is almost same. The most costly operation parts for vertical cuttings dryer is screen basket; the most costly operation spare parts for high G dryer is shaker screen. They both need to be replaced after some period use.
Part 3) decanter centrifuge: GN latest model decanter centrifuge can work perfectly for heavy mud treatment. In this treatment system, GN decanter centrifuge is used to treat the fine solids with liquids discharged from vertical cuttings dryer / high G dryer, with much high solids content.
There are also some auxiliary equipment to connect and support the whole system.
1) Drilling cuttings transfer pump: this is used to transfer the drilling cuttings from solids control system to vertical cuttings dryer / high G dryer. Screw conveyor can also be used to replace drilling cuttings transfer pump.
2) Mud intermediary transfer unit: this is used to collect the liquids from vertical cuttings dryer and then go to centrifuge.
3) Screw pump: this can be used for feeding decanter centrifuge / flushing vertical cuttings dryer.
